Professional Outreach
Professional Development: Members of The Bodine School faculty share their expertise at state and national conventions and are available to provide teacher in-service to area schools.
Teacher Training: The Bodine School supports elementary teacher training through its participation in the SMILA teacher training institute. At this institute teachers are taught a simultaneous, multisensory approach to the teaching of reading which is particularly beneficial for beginning readers and students at risk for reading failure. Workshops: The Bodine School conducts workshops for area schools on topics related to reading, assessment, and dyslexia. To arrange a workshop, contact the School's Outreach Department at extension 308. The Bodine School is hosting a series of workshop for learning specialists on November 17, 2011, February 2, 2012, and April 19, 2012 at The Bodine School. Conferences: The 2012 Rise Conference will be held in Brentwood, TN on April 21, 2012. Registration begins Feb. 20. Contact the Tennessee Branch of the International Dyslexia Association for more information. The 2011 Rise Conference hosted by the Tennessee Branch of the International Dyslexia Association was held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at University School in Jackson, TN. Several members of The Bodine School faculty presented and participated.
