Special Events

The Bodine School offers several events throughout the year to raise much needed funds that are directed toward general operations, classroom enhancement, faculty training, technology, and financial aid.  You are sure to find activities and opportunities you’ll enjoy.

Acorn Auction
/files/School Symbols/acorn.gifThe Acorn Auction is our biggest and most exciting event of the year, offering great fun, entertainment, and an incredible array of silent and live auction items. This is a not-to-be-missed gala event, with dinner, wine, cash bar, and lots of surprizes every year.  Make plans now to attend.

The 2010 Acorn Auction will be held on Saturday, March 27th at the Holiday Inn at the University of Memphis, located at 1700 Central Ave.  View a map.

Tickets are just $35 per person and can be purchased by calling the School at 754-1800, ext. 305, or by downloading a reservation form and sending it to the Development Office.  Reserved Tables for 10 are available for only $400 and will provide the best seats in the house.

Corporate sponsors, volunteers, and auction items are needed for this event, and we would welcome your participation in whatever capacity you might choose.  If you would like to donate an item for our live or silent auction, click here to download an auction donation form.

Advertisements in our catalog can be purchased from $100 to $500, depending on size.  Ads are a great way to market your business, acknowledge a student's achievement, thank a teacher, or just lend your support.  Event Sponsorships range from $250 to $5,000 and carry an array of benefits at each level, including event tickets, catalog ads, and sponsor recognition.  Click here for Sponsor Benefits, Sponsorship Form, or Advertising Form.  For more information, contact the Development Office.

Thank you to our 2010 Sponsors!  Please support those businesses that support our School!

Other Special Events include:

Community Leader Breakfast
This event is not a fundraiser, but rather a true “friend-raiser” for our students and our School.  While here, visitors learn about the mission of The Bodine School and the wonderful resources offered to the students. Guests can even spend time in our Dyslexia Simulation Lab to experience first-hand the struggles faced by Bodine students.  Best of all, the students get to spend time with someone they admire and learn about professions and community roles that may lie in their futures. Our Community Leader Breakfast held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, was a huge success.  You can learn more about this annual event by visiting our Community Outreach page.

Fall Plant Sale
/files/Site Images/support_special2.JPGThe Bodine Parent Organization hosts a fall plant sale, offering pansies, mums, and other plants to brighten your garden throughout the year.  Order forms will be available in early September and plants will be delivered in October.

Book Fair
The Bodine School Library sponsors the annual Book Fair in November each year, selling books for children of all ages.

Open House
Sponsored by the Bodine Parent Organization, the Open House is a BBQ dinner and Book Fair for Bodine families.  This year's event took place on November 12, 2009.  It was a great evening for everyone to enjoy visiting their child’s classroom, viewing student projects, and visiting with other families.
