The Bodine School

The mission of The Bodine School is to lead the Mid-South in teaching children with dyslexia to read and succeed.

Vision

The Bodine School will serve the Mid-South community with an evidence based educational program provided through a state-of-the-art school for dyslexic students and a model outreach program designed to enhance literacy and educational outcomes for children and adults.

School Pledge

As a student at The Bodine School, I will give my best effort, keep a positive attitude, and respect myself and others.

School Symbols

The Bodine School has two symbols which reflect the character of our students and their academic achievements.

The acorn and the oak leaf are symbols used in the school's logo. According to legend, the acorn is a symbol of how hard work pays off over time. The acorn starts as a little seed and in time grows into a majestic oak, symbolizing the potential for great accomplishment. Our students are guided through the many small steps of academic achievement. They grow in skill and confidence to become achievers, ready to accept life's many challenges.

The second symbol is the school's mascot, the bulldog. In England, the bulldog is a symbol of grit and determination. Sir Winston Churchill (himself learning disabled) was frequently symbolized as a bulldog because of his unflinching determination. Our students must be determined to overcome learning obstacles and succeed. They must embrace challenges with confidence and strength of mind and spirit.
